FORMER Essendon premiership player and long-time board member Alec Epis has been dumped in favour of financial adviser Jo-Anne Albert.
Chairman Ray Horsburgh and Kevin Egan, who were also up for re-election, have retained their positions on the 11-person board.Epis played 180 games for the Bombers over 11 years and was a member of the 1962 and '65 premiership teams before becoming chairman of selectors. He is a life member of the club, but even that failed to save him from a stinging attack only recently by former coach Kevin Sheedy.Albert, a founding member of the Essendon Women's Network, joins Bev Knight as the only women on the board."Alec has given more than 50 years of his life to this club (and) I know how much this club means to him," Horsburgh said last night. "On behalf of the board and the members I thank him for his service." -- MARTIN BOULTON
