FORMER Essendon premiership player and long-time board member Alec Epis has been dumped in favour of financial adviser Jo-Anne Albert.

Chairman Ray Horsburgh and Kevin Egan, who were also up for re-election, have retained their positions on the 11-person board.

Epis played 180 games for the Bombers over 11 years and was a member of the 1962 and '65 premiership teams before becoming chairman of selectors. He is a life member of the club, but even that failed to save him from a stinging attack only recently by former coach Kevin Sheedy.

Albert, a founding member of the Essendon Women's Network, joins Bev Knight as the only women on the board.

"Alec has given more than 50 years of his life to this club (and) I know how much this club means to him," Horsburgh said last night. "On behalf of the board and the members I thank him for his service." -- MARTIN BOULTON
